I know I have to get some photos up, but I've been on the road - the three weeks I was in NYC for fashion week and related events, then London, now Milan, and I know I'm lucky - I remember listening to editors and clients complain about travel and fashion week etc. and thinking they were jerks and nwo I'm the jerk.

Fashion week wreaks havoc on your self esteem, between the models and the neuroses, and the clothes and the women who work n fashion that live on altoids and fortified water and look at me like an alien when they see me with steak and beer. They say things like "YOu must be married" and "watch out - at your age, if you keep throwing up your food it will take the whitener off your teeth and the enamel too." And it's barely balanced out by what I like about my job - getting to take pictures and create and destroy small worlds just for a snapshot, and seeing the whole theater that goes along with the good runway shows. And the clothes this go round, save Galliano, Prada and Comme des Garcons were all kind of non starters, Marc Jacobs cllection was very boring, heatherette's was totally derivative and "meh" inducing and the whole thing just had a very deja vu feeling to it.

'sides life and pix on the road, how's life? Romance? Rome?

Rome is great, a little homesick and lonely, no romance to speak of, I have to learn more Italian before I date Italian men. I'll get there, I suppose, I'm not stressing it too much, I'm trying to adopt the laid back attitude of the Italians...

When you learn the laid back 'tude, mind schooling me? I could use some chillaxation.

Meanwhile, do you REALLY need to learn Italian to learn Italian Men? C'mon girl. Face front.

Italian laid back is easy. Comes in about 3 steps, really:

1- ignore the "watch" because time doesn't exist.

2- afternoon naps are an integral part of every day.

3- evenings are meant for strolling, usually after supper.

As you can see, almost impossible to adopt in North America... man I miss being in Italy...

What do I have to do -- DIE -- in order to experience that magnitude of heaven?

Nope. Just move to Italy :)

Actually, my understanding is that it's pretty much the same in most European countries. Must be an "Old World" type of existence :)

said the man with a European girlfriend! She and her girls would be a better guide than I as they are natives.

the after dinner stroll thing I mastered when I got a dog. But the no one having any commitment to time just kills me sometimes, mostly at work, people show up for shoots when they're ready, mysteriously leave early to take care of trivia, I really need to just accept the complete disregard for other people's time.

I hear you have had Andy with you for three months -- you must be going crazy. Is he being high maintenance? Did you kick him out? You can kick him out, you know.
